We are still trying to track the cause of the problem with the new builds for some users. I tested the last DX and IX distribution on a clean box and it worked fine.

I suspect it is Norton Antivirus blocking the script execution. We had a mechanism in place to avoid that, but maybe it changed in the last builds. Could you confirm that you have or not have NA in your setup? We are preparing some test boxes with NA on them to try today as well.

The other thing I can think of is the new threading system of DX script. Now it uses the main DX UI thread for scripts, unless you specify otherwise in the DXScript options. I would like to make a test build that works like DX 2.3 for someone to try.
However, if you try and delete
C:\Documents and Settings\Alberto\Local settings\Application Data\Stardock\DesktopX\Current Theme\
and on reload DX still crashes, it means it is not related to this.

A last attempt just to make sure it isn't IX conflicting, please try and set this DWORD value in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\DesktopX\IconX = 0

If someone would like to try one or two test builds, please contact me privately by mail albertor@stardock.com or better on irc.stardock.com #Stardock today.
